SPEAKER_00

Welcome to the Argue Your Point podcast. Here are your hosts, Jeff Leetri and Mason Leet.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. All right, let's get with it. A YP.

SPEAKER_01

Episode 16. Happy April Fool's Day.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's April Fool's Day. It's Christina's birthday. Happy birthday, Aunt Christina. Did you want to say happy birthday, also?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Happy birthday.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we got a really good show for you today. We're going to be going over the March Madness Final Four. We're playing a mystery game that Mason set up. Two mystery games. Two mystery two Mason mystery games. The Bills mock draft pick. So that's where myself and Mason pick who we believe the Bills are going to take with their first round pick.

SPEAKER_01

As if they keep their first round pick.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I mean, yeah, I guess you could pick that they will trade up or down, um, or left or right, and um and do whatever they do with that pick. Uh, we're gonna go over the Atlantic Division race, saber's clinch scenario, which um I can't wait for that moment to happen. Looking very forward to that. Questions anyone, that's what it says. And uh, we're gonna look at the PGA prediction this week.

SPEAKER_01

More like questions anyone.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I um last last week, who did I pick last week? Um it did not oh Kepka. Yeah, I picked Kepka. He had he had a good first hole. And then um, I think good first two holes, and then he was just double bogeying, and then he was just took himself out of the tournament. Um he had three triple three double bogeys in the first uh in the first round. But all right, yeah. Let's um let's talk about that flood last night. Holy moly.

SPEAKER_01

Rain ton.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah, it did. I um I went outside to check the grate where all the sewer where all the rainwater goes to onto the street and goes down this grate, and I seen my neighbor Gary out there, and he was checking it out too. And um it was flowing, it was flowing, but it was actually getting smaller as we were out there talking. But we got a little bit of rain, a little bit of water in the basement, which is unusual. It was pretty unusual storm. I mean, there was four feet across center road, only like a quarter mile from here. People had four feet in their backyard. So we only had you know a couple inches. I'd say about um two in the morning, maybe around there, it completely stopped, and all the water from the backyard had been sucked out into the street. But, anyways, we're not here to talk about strain uh drainage and uh water storms, but it was a it was a pretty um crazy storm. Now we're gonna talk about it. Speaking of storms, what go ahead?

SPEAKER_01

Now we're gonna talk about the central question. Did Wilt Chamberlain reach a hundred points?

SPEAKER_03

Did Wilt Chamberlain reach a hundred points? What this question is coming out of left field.

SPEAKER_01

No, we uh we have some evidence here. But we're gonna uh debate here, we're gonna see who thinks who. And um let's take a look at the take a look at the uh evidence here. The official photo of Will toting 100 signs after the game where he scored 100. The box score with all the stats, and the radio need in a radio broadcast of the hundredth point still exists.

SPEAKER_03

But wait, the radio what? Radio broadcast but why do people question it?

SPEAKER_01

There's no there's no video footage. The game wasn't televised, and it's only four thousand people with small core.

SPEAKER_03

It was on the radio though, yeah. See, that's never mentioned, you know. When they say like it wasn't televised, you can't watch it, you can't see it. But if you can go back and listen to it, that's like that's live sports right there. You know? I'm a fan of live sports, and that is live sports. I've listened to a lot of I listened to, and there's a photo, I listened to a lot of uh so there is a there is a photograph then.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah, it says a photo of video.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he he did it. Why would um you said there was four you said only four thousand, but really only four thousand four thousand people that they would all have to be in that conspiracy to go along with that he scored a hundred points, but we're gonna fool the rest of the world because it really only got ninety-eight.

SPEAKER_01

So the box scores.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, he did that. He did that.

SPEAKER_01

The box score, but here's the part now. I'm not gonna talk about how it wasn't much because he made 20 free throws and 36 field goals, but he played the entire game, which you don't see in the NBA much. You don't see a player who's playing the entire game. Which is but it's still the highest scoring game in NBA history. Broke's previous record was 78, and while he was in the one the greatest record ever. So what do you think?

SPEAKER_03

What about that guy who brought I thought the guy Bambiam DeBio at the Bio? Oh, what did uh 83? He got 83. Is that the second most?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So who do you think who is the third most? Kobe. 81. Who do you think?

SPEAKER_03

Okay, all right.

SPEAKER_01

Who do you think? Um do you think this is true, and you think he scored 100, or do you think he scored 99?

SPEAKER_03

No, I think he scored a hundred points. So you said there was four thousand witnesses. Yeah. It's on the radio. About four the photograph afterwards. That's yeah. There's no evidence all I need. That is that is evidence. No video evidence. Doesn't need to be video, he was on the broadcast. Think the the guy was counting wrong on the broadcast?

SPEAKER_01

Could have no nineteen fifty fifty nineteen sixty-two.

SPEAKER_03

If if you if you really didn't believe it, then listen to the broadcast, and every time the announcer says um write it down.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. That was actually March 2nd, so just over a month ago. But in that game, he said one, two, three, four, five, six, seven records at the time.

SPEAKER_03

All right.

SPEAKER_01

Most points it had.

SPEAKER_03

So this wasn't even part of the rundown, this uh Bill Chamber thing. You just threw this on the just threw this on.

SPEAKER_01

I said last time we're gonna do a central question. So now we're now we're gonna start. Central question.

SPEAKER_03

That was the essential question of the day.

SPEAKER_01

Now we're gonna do our predictions. Number three, Illinois versus number you, number two, Yukon. You want to do this one?

SPEAKER_03

Well, no, you can't you can't just go into them without talking about the games and how things happened, you know. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um that Yukon game was insane.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, Yukon with the buzzer beater and with Cam Boozer. All they had to do was foul, and then, you know, there's the chance that they'll make both the free three throws, but then it's overtime. Uh instead, they just let him sink a three-pointer and take the lead with 0.3 seconds left. And sealed the deal for their final four.

SPEAKER_01

That point is it's it's a crazy game. It was a crazy game. I turned it off, I didn't talk about it, or I didn't um even look at it after like halftime because I saw all this games.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, it was up 20 points. Yeah, it was the same way, same, same. They were up 20 points, and then uh and then I took my phone and I was like, what? 7372? Crazy. Then I seen all the replays and the mother of the son who scored the uh buzzer beater. It's not technically a buzzer beater, but it was a um buzzer. Well, it was he didn't the ball didn't beat the buzzer. There was 0.3 seconds left. And then maybe they added more, I'm not sure. Um but uh yeah, pretty, pretty exciting. I gotta stop, you know, my bracket. I gotta stop putting all the ones in my final four. I think I did it two years in a row.

SPEAKER_01

All ones. I did it.

SPEAKER_03

Well, no, no, I actually no I did it. I had three ones in Houston.

SPEAKER_01

I did um I did um Michigan, Arizona, Illinois. I did um Arizona Duke, Iowa State, Houston.

SPEAKER_03

You had Iowa State and they were uh were they a two?

SPEAKER_01

They were two.

SPEAKER_03

Uh oh, and Houston, so you had two ones and in two twos. Yep. Um I had Arizona, Duke, Michigan, and um whoever Michigan's playing tonight.

SPEAKER_01

Arizona. Michigan, Arizona. Okay, well um let's move on.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, Michigan, Arizona.

SPEAKER_01

Let's talk about Illinois Arizona.

SPEAKER_03

Houston and Duke. That's that's where I had.

SPEAKER_01

Illinois, they they play fast and they score transition. That's their But Yukon they want to slow the game down and they want to control the tempo of the game. But Illinois, they rely a lot on three-pointers, they can do, you know, when you're in transition, it's easier just to hit a three-pointer, you know, when you're down there. But if Illinois can get hot from three-pointer, this game can can change very quickly.

SPEAKER_03

Sorry about that.

SPEAKER_01

So the key of the game will be how fast this we and turnover, that'll be key. But if it's physicality, it would be Yukon.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you know, between Yukon and Illinois.

SPEAKER_01

Um I got Illinois.

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna I'm gonna take UConn on this. Um you know, they Yukon is, you know, they came back at 20 points. They like to to control the tempo. Um, you know, they're like I think like you said, you know, they're better up front and um in rebounding, and I think this game's gonna be like grinded out at the come down to the the last second again. And um, I don't know if it'll be like a buzzer beater, but I do think that uh UConn um edge them out because of those reasons. Um they're more physical, they're they're better in the paint, um and their their style I I think matches up really good for Illinois, and I think uh UConn's gonna take it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, sir. I do.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's um that's a pretty good uh I like it.

SPEAKER_03

Pretty good analysis. You like that? Yeah, yeah, I thought of that all by myself.

SPEAKER_01

Or you move on to Arizona, Michigan.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Now, um this one is Arizona all the way. Okay. They're they are 26th and 2, I'm pretty sure. Only two losses are to ranked teams. They blew out Purdue, blew out Arkansas, blow out every team they've played. Okay, they all you're going all the way. You're going all the way.

SPEAKER_03

Michigan's got a size advantage though. And they play more physical, Michigan does. What do you gotta say about that?

SPEAKER_01

Well, what I gotta say here is that the stats are a lot. That's all I'm gonna say. Okay, they are a great team, Arizona. They're 16-2 at their conference, they're on a 13-game win streak. 16-1 at home, 9-1 away, 11-0.

SPEAKER_03

I uh yeah, you don't gotta tell me their season stats. I I just want to know, you know, tournament stats. Uh like what have they done, you know, in this tournament.

SPEAKER_01

The or unstoppable.

SPEAKER_03

This I you know, I I would look at the the season stats before the tournament starts when you do that breakdown. But now it's like, you know, what have you done for me lately? And obviously, Arizona has done real they've been they've been blowing teams out. Um, but um, but Michigan, you know, again, kind of like let me tell you the scores real quick.

SPEAKER_01

So 92 58, 78 66, 109. They beat the two seed by 15 points.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, and what about Michigan?

SPEAKER_01

They're what do you mean? They're not playing they didn't play yet.

SPEAKER_03

Can you tell me what Michigan's done in this tournament so far, please?

SPEAKER_01

Sure. So Michigan, take a look. Uh, and you go down here. So 101 80, 9572, 9077, 9562.

SPEAKER_03

They're both also man, those are two uh no really no close games. I mean, I'm sure they're bad those some of those games could have been tight at a at a point, you know.

SPEAKER_01

They almost lost to number 15 seed Nebraska. They lost to number 19 seam Wisconsin. Almost lost to unranked Penn State.

SPEAKER_03

I'm going Michigan. Michigan on that. Mark it down. Put me on the record.

SPEAKER_01

You better put me on there, too.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you got Arizona.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And now it's time for pick the Bills draft pick! I'll get the noises on that later. I'll put some noises on. Okay, my pick. We have a drum roll. It's another. It's not there. Drum roll, please.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know anything. Sorry, I'm not seeing the drum roll. All right, come on.

SPEAKER_01

JJ Parker. That's what I'm picking.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Edge claps in six three, two hundred and sixty-five pounds.

SPEAKER_03

Wow! Edge. I like I like the position, I gotta say.

SPEAKER_01

265, 6'3, that is pretty and last season he had five sacks, 30, 18 solo tackles, five fumble recoveries, three fumble recoveries. I don't even I don't even think he was uh fully healthy because why? Because um doesn't look like he had the greatest death, but still a top player. He's a player that can develop, turn into a star player, victory defensive player. He already lost, we're probably gonna lose Joey both AGF and Essa, so we need to upgrade. We got Bradley Chubb, he can help TJ Parker turn him into a star player. And if he gets um the right mentorship and Jim GM Leenhard helps them to uh victory, this could be a good team. This could be a scary defense.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Our problem was stopping the run, getting to the quarterback, come and do it. Why would we draft like a wide receiver when our number one problem is getting against the quarterback? We already got DJ Moore. Right. Take someone in the third round, you know.

SPEAKER_03

I'd love to disagree with you, but I'm agreeing with all your points. Um who'd you pick? Well, so well, before we get to that though, um with Epinasa, he could sign, right? He's he is he is a free agent. He had he um was thought to be signed with Cleveland. They didn't like what they saw from his physical. He didn't fail as physical. All right. From what I understand, I know I've read articles, he failed as physical, but that's not what happened. He didn't fail it, and then they're just like, all right, you're out. Um they didn't like what they saw, even though he's historically been really healthy. I don't know what the deal with that is. Uh maybe they're just you know cold feet, kind of like the Max Crosby thing, and just like eh, I don't know about this. What? You have a thought on that?

SPEAKER_01

That's a little different because it's not like the Max Crosby. Well, it's definitely different. The Max Crosby, they traded. So, I mean, they the whole reason they kind of backed out is I feel like they did that just so they can get Trey Hendrickson for cheaper, they wouldn't have to get rid of the draft picks.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but we'll get off track here. We'll get off track. Yeah, but yeah, but did they have that plan all along where they thought, okay, if it doesn't work out with Max Crosby, I don't did they did they think that they weren't gonna get Trey Hendrickson? Like they don't have a shot. And then when they found out they could and would that's when they um not totally in love with this uh um physical here. Gotta say, there was some some doctors that had some serious concerns. So we're gonna pass. But um that's all they gotta say.

SPEAKER_01

Who'd you pick?

SPEAKER_03

I picked, who did I pick? Um did you pick?

SPEAKER_01

You should uh check. I after this, we didn't do our first game.

SPEAKER_03

After this with the 26th pick, the Buffalo Bills will pick Dylan Demon. Safety Oregon. He's six foot, 255 pounds, uh a standout safety for the Purdue Boilermakers, and let me tell you, he is one of the top young defensive backs in the country.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, you think you're reading that right for Oregon, but I'm not reading anything. It's uh Oregon.

SPEAKER_03

I'm not reading anything. Yeah, but it's just coming from my my heart. And and I'll tell you another thing. He's earned f freshman All-America honors after a breakout season showing elite instincts. And you can even, you know, I've even seen on some film, he's made some really good play big playmaking ability in the secondary. I seen um I seen this one game, I think it I think it was um UFC that he was playing in. Really, really stood out to me. Um his his play baking playmaking abilities um really, really stuck out. Um, you know, he can he can he can intercept the ball. Um, I don't, you know, I know we signed uh Tamar Hamlin, but you know, he's Demar Hamlin is not one of the top safeties in the league, or line, he's linebacker, actually. But um, you know, couple in a really top safety with Max Harrison. Hopefully he says he stays safe and in his second year can rise up to that elite shutdown cornerback status. Um and then and then you got uh uh a new talented safety coming in, learning from him with him, and um, yeah, shut down defense. Let's go safety, let's go Bill's defense. I agree with what you were saying earlier that it was the defense holding us back, not the offense. Don't think we need a bona fide wide receiver. Um that I Josh Allen doesn't need a bona fide wide receiver. Uh Sam Darnold needs a bona fide wide receiver, but Josh Allen doesn't.

SPEAKER_01

So Sam Darnold isn't nearly as athletic. He's still a little bit athletic, but you can't compare him to Josh Allen. It's like that's insane. You know, he's just he's really he's a good quarterback. That's all he's good. But let me remember last year he was 14-3 as a Vikings at Just Jefferson. If you give him a good wide receiver, then he can work.

SPEAKER_03

They said he had JSN.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. They signed JSN 40 or 164 million. But um, ready to play your game?

SPEAKER_03

Uh sure, I'm not even sure what the game is, but yeah, sure.

SPEAKER_01

We got a bracket, 16 best NFL coaches coming from last season. Oh, this game from last season. This is by CBS. It also includes Mike McCarthy, because now we're gonna argue. Who do you think is the better coach? Who would you rather have for your team? The one seed Mike McDonald or number sixteen seed Mike McCarthy.

SPEAKER_03

So we're gonna go through all sixteen of these right now.

SPEAKER_01

We're gonna go through the first round, and next week you can do the second round, and then we'll go down.

SPEAKER_03

And I have nothing to look at.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Oh, you gotta look at this. Who who are the Mike you got Mike McDonald and Mike McCarthy and Mike's?

SPEAKER_03

I'll go with the Super Bowl winning coach for sure.

SPEAKER_01

Enlighten me. Why would you why?

SPEAKER_03

Because he won the Super Bowl. Full stop.

SPEAKER_01

Well, who'd you rather?

SPEAKER_03

Well, I think I'm gonna do this one here.

SPEAKER_01

Damico Ryan's Nick Cariani. This one, I'm gonna go with the upside here. The nine C D'Mico Ryan, Texans. I think they're he took a team that went two and five.

SPEAKER_03

Stout defense last year. He's a good one. Eagles fluttered. So yeah, I'm going Texans.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, okay, Texans.

SPEAKER_03

Floundered.

SPEAKER_01

Now we got Sean Payton and Jim Horbaugh.

SPEAKER_03

Harbaugh. I Sean Payton. Oh, that's that's easy. Sean Payton.

SPEAKER_01

I really think I think Sean Payton got that one easily.

SPEAKER_03

Harbaugh got fired.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_03

He did.

SPEAKER_01

No, he didn't.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, that was the other Harbaugh? That was um the Chargers? Oh, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, um I have to have a little we have a little I got I got I got confused with the hardbaughs. So, um actually we have a little technical difficulty here. Give me a sec to game.

SPEAKER_03

Why why can't you just look at that bracket and pick it?

SPEAKER_01

We have a little technical difficulty.

SPEAKER_03

Just write it down with pen.

SPEAKER_01

Cause you just have to wait for me. Let me.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Um. In the meantime, uh, let's talk about the sabers clinching.

SPEAKER_01

Not clinching, we didn't clinch.

SPEAKER_03

I didn't say that. I said let's talk about the sabres clinching scenario. The sabres need. If I'm if I'm looking at this correctly, but I thought I heard four points. I thought we were four points away. We are we've got a hundred points for only the tenth time in franchise history since 1970. Um, but I was looking at the other teams that have 10 wins, or how many hundred point wins and you know the it's pretty scarce. Um I think Edmonton only has 12. So um okay, we fixed this um.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, are we ready?

SPEAKER_03

Of course, Montreal.

SPEAKER_01

Matt LaFleur for the Packers or the four seed Ben Johnson Bears. What are we thinking here?

SPEAKER_03

The Packers?

SPEAKER_01

No, no, we're not talking about the team, we're just talking about the coach. Matt LaFleur. I actually want to go the upside here. I want to go Matt LaFleur for the Packers. He's a he's a great mentor, great defensive minded coach.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but last year the Bears um had a great had a great regular season. They stacked wins.

SPEAKER_01

We are not talking about the Bears right now. We're talking about who's the better coach.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I know. He coached the Bears.

SPEAKER_01

So who's the better coach? I think metaphor.

SPEAKER_03

Ben Johnson.

SPEAKER_01

No. Okay, let's argue our point right now.

SPEAKER_03

He had He had um a much better regular season. I don't have the stats in front of me. I don't have anything to do.

SPEAKER_01

Argue your point right now.

SPEAKER_03

He had a better regular season.

SPEAKER_01

That's all you got.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's what I got.

SPEAKER_01

He's a better mentor coach, a stronger-minded defensive coach.

SPEAKER_03

And he just And how many wins did they get last year?

SPEAKER_01

Twelve.

SPEAKER_03

The Packers? Yeah. Can you look that up? See how long it takes you to find out how many wins the Packers had compared to how many wins the Bears had. Hmm. Going on about 20 seconds here. Still no answer.

SPEAKER_01

11 and 6 and the Packers were 9-7-1. That's not 11-6?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. The the Bears tore it up last year.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

They didn't have a great.

SPEAKER_01

I I that's not that doesn't matter. It does to me. I want the Packers upset. That's fine.

SPEAKER_03

The Ben Johnson had a way better season last year. He had a breakout season.

SPEAKER_01

Andy Reid Chiefs and Liam Cohen Jaguars. I think I want to go the upside here. Liam Cohen. Took a team from a top five draft pick all the way to the to winning their division.

SPEAKER_03

Why would that be the upset? I would think that Liam Cohen should be the favorite. Well because of what you just said and Andy Reid didn't.

SPEAKER_01

Well, let's not look at numbers. Let's just look at the coaches here. Who do you think the better coach right now?

SPEAKER_03

No, no, you know, we're only based in this office.

SPEAKER_01

Well, who would you rather have as your team based in last year? Andy Reed, Liam Cohen. What's that? Who would you rather have as your coach based off last season? Cohen or Reed?

SPEAKER_03

Well, that's kind of asking a different question. Yeah, if you look at the longevity, it's definitely positively Andy Reid. But if you're only looking at last year.

SPEAKER_01

We were talking about last year. That's all we're talking about.

SPEAKER_03

Liam Cohen.

SPEAKER_01

Liam Cohen. Now we got a couple more. Dan Campbell Lions with Kyle Shanahan 49ers. This is a good one. I kind of I kind of want the 49ers or uh Kyle Shanahan. They had a lot of injuries. 49ers had a lot of injuries and he still came out. They had Mac Jones for five games and he still had a winning team. So should we can we agree on the 49ers here?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I think so.

SPEAKER_01

Now we got Vrabel versus John Harbaugh, the New York Giants.

SPEAKER_03

Against the fired coach? Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I he didn't fire you.

SPEAKER_03

He didn't make the playoffs. And I actually think that's a good thing. Maybe he didn't get fired.

SPEAKER_01

Now we got a last one for today. Kevin O'Connell Vikings or Sean McVay Rams. Two over the fifteen.

SPEAKER_03

The Vikings. No, the Rams. The Vikings um made tons and tons of mistakes. They traded away the quarterback that won the Super Bowl. Okay. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

The Elite Eight is ready.

SPEAKER_03

They fired their GM.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, let's move on, shall we?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Um I'm not sure about that segment there. That was a little stale.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not sure about you.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Um, yeah, the Sabres last night played the Islanders. Another gritty win. Um, a different kind of a win. They um they were putting a lot of shots on. They the Islanders got a kind of a fluky go off of uh Powers skate, and then um man, Norris got hit in the from behind, and then Sam Carrick stepped in to you know stand up for his teammate. He gets in a fight and then he falls on a side and then gets injured. I'm not sure. Can you look he's day-to-day? Yep, that's good news. Okay, that's good news. I wasn't sure about that, uh, the extent of the injury, but day-to-day is good. Um but anyways, it was tied 2-2, and then with six minutes left in the third, they scored another just in like sabers fashion this whole season. It's just, you know, like there's just that belief that no game is out of reach. Um you know, uh but um yeah, it was a great a great win, and then a hundred points. First time in when was the last time we had a hundred points? I don't even know. It's probably not even the last time we made the playoffs, which was 14 years ago before Mason, you were even born, which is awesome that you get to experience this now.

SPEAKER_01

2009, 2010 season with Lindy Ruff, too.

SPEAKER_03

I've always said Lindy Ruff is the best coach the Sabres have had since Lindy Ruff.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's true. But um are we think we're so if the Sabres win. Wait, wait, wait, wait, let me just go on here. I'm thinking of an update on points here. So I'm talking about points. I'm gonna go Buffalo 100, Tampa Bay 98, Montreal 96, Boston 94, Columbus 88, and this is the end of wild card. Then you got Ottawa 86, Detroit 86, and Philly 86. All with varying uh percentage to make the playoffs.

SPEAKER_03

First place, baby.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, first place, big dogs.

SPEAKER_03

What's awesome too is we've got a plus 42 goal differential. Wow. That's amazing.

SPEAKER_01

We're on a four-game win streak. We're on a two-game win streak.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, two. Yeah, we could we actually lost three in a row before that, but two of them were in overtime, which we still gained points, but um you know, still three three uh three losses in a row. But pick up those points. That's pretty good too. Yeah, so uh yeah, yeah, and yesterday I think like everyone lost.

SPEAKER_01

Like um Tampa lost.

SPEAKER_03

Islanders, Detroit, Ottawa. That's our next game is Ottawa tomorrow night.

SPEAKER_01

So let me tell you, Columbus, Ottawa, Detroit, and Philly lost.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's crazy.

SPEAKER_01

And Tampa.

SPEAKER_03

That is crazy.

SPEAKER_01

So I remember.

SPEAKER_03

I can't I can't wait. I I'm enjoying this run. I guess we'll just say uh oh, okay, and then we're gonna do a little rapid fire thing.

SPEAKER_01

No. I'll I'll this is like a little rundown. I mean, so we're gonna do a little uh a little game we got here.

SPEAKER_03

Definitely?

SPEAKER_01

No, it's gonna be a game where I'd be playing.

SPEAKER_03

Definitely not.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, uh you get all the love here.

SPEAKER_03

So yeah, but wait, but one last you know, thought on the Buffalo Sabres. Okay. I'm I just can't wait until that moment comes where they finally clinch the playoffs, and it's and the the drought will be over. It's it's it's it's expected, you know, so it's a little you know different than when the Bills did it, where it was unexpected. This is expected. Um, but just going from like the bottom of the league to the top of the league in one year, and just bam, all of a sudden, you know, we're great. We're not just you know middle of the pack, and in an in it in such a competitive year where the East is you know, like most years, 100 points, we would have clinched, you know, a long time ago. But um it's really, really competitive this year, and we're one of the top teams, and it's just so awesome finally uh in a great group of great team with Lindy Ruff again. Who would have thought? It's just um the season's got everything, it's got history, tons of records being broken, and uh I just I can't wait until we clinch. And when we do, officially in. It's gonna be awesome. And then and then here come the playoffs. So we've only got about I think six more regular season games to go, and then the playoffs.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, we're gonna start a game. I'll be playing this one. So we have a pack of football cards here, 15 cards, and you will tell me them in the order that they're in, and I will either cut them or keep them, and I cannot change it. I cannot change the order of it. So if I say have five players and the next one's Josh Allen, then you know I already I just lose. I can't get them.

SPEAKER_02

What's your point?

SPEAKER_01

My point is here, we're making the ultimate NFL team from 15. So do you wanna list off the players? I'm gonna say caught or keep.

SPEAKER_03

You want me to lift it? You lift them off, yeah. You haven't seen these before.

SPEAKER_01

I have not seen them. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

So you're gonna um say the name of the player and just say the um I'm sure everybody can hear me crackling of the plastic of opening a brand new pack.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Riley Leonard. I'm a couple quarterback. I'm a cognition rookie.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna cug them.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, second one is another rookie.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, all the rookies at the front.

SPEAKER_03

The rookie's always at the front?

SPEAKER_01

Yep. That's just how the pack is. Should I go through all the rookies or should I mix them up? Tell me. You can mix them up eventually.

SPEAKER_03

I can mix them up?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, I'm gonna mix them up.

SPEAKER_01

I'll look back.

SPEAKER_03

You don't have to. You can't see the front of them anyway.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I can see the back of them, and then I can see the color in that's well, don't look.

SPEAKER_03

Alright, here we go. Adam Thielen, wide receiver, Carolina.

SPEAKER_01

Adam Dhielen.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Adam Dillon. Can I say his name wrong?

SPEAKER_01

I'm not sure you can.

SPEAKER_03

You gotta make a quicker answer than I'm gonna cut him. You're gonna cut. Okay, so the first two guys you cut. You said you cut 10, keep five.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_03

Then you have to make a decision every as soon as you hear it. Okay. L Toon, wide receiver, New York Jets.

SPEAKER_01

L tune, no. Cut.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Elijah Arrayo. Arrayo. Sorry if I mispronounced that. Tight end rookie drafted by Seattle. Elijah Arrayo.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna cut him.

SPEAKER_03

Man, you haven't kept anyone. You've only got two left. Whoa. Okay, another rookie. Shavon Ravel Jr., cornerback.

SPEAKER_01

I cut him.

SPEAKER_03

You haven't kept a single. You gotta keep one rookie. You got two rookies left.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Um. Okay, we've got cornerback Trey Amos.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna keep him.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

He's a pretty good guy.

SPEAKER_03

Alright. How about Sam Darnold? Sam Darnold?

SPEAKER_01

I'm definitely gonna keep Sam.

SPEAKER_03

The Vikings. Okay. How about Nick Bosa?

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna keep Nick Bosa.

SPEAKER_03

Alright. Tatoria McMillan.

SPEAKER_01

Tet. I'm keeping Tet.

SPEAKER_03

Alright. We got JK Dobbins.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna cut JK.

SPEAKER_03

What?

SPEAKER_01

JK. Gone. Take him out. Old.

SPEAKER_03

Old? He's not old.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you play for the Denver. You play for Denver now.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

You're the one.

SPEAKER_03

Can I get Christian McCaffrey?

SPEAKER_01

I will take him.

SPEAKER_03

What's his nickname?

SPEAKER_01

CMC.

SPEAKER_03

CMC.

SPEAKER_01

Tell me the players I have to cut.

SPEAKER_03

How about C D Lamb?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I have to cut him. I'm all players. I'm not players, yeah. You can just play that I have to cut.

SPEAKER_03

No, you've only got Oh, one, two, three, four, five. Oh, yeah, you're right. Chris Boswell, kicker. Kenneth Grant, defensive tackle. And finally, Tank Bigsby, running back. All right. I think I have a lose the game. If I would. You missed out on a couple of things.

SPEAKER_01

Obviously, CMC, you you the only player I would only player I would get rid of was Trey Amos. But I can't have all offensive players. So I like my team. I like it.

SPEAKER_03

Sam Darnold, Bosa, Trey Amos. Tutoria McMillan.

SPEAKER_01

Tet McMillan, just say Tet.

SPEAKER_03

Tat McMillan and CMC. Alright. There you go. There you have it. There's your game you set up. That one was a little more fun than the last one because I got to read the names. Like a sports announcer.

SPEAKER_01

I guess I'll do it. I mean, next time maybe we could pick up a pack. Podcast pack.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I guess.

SPEAKER_01

Actually you didn't see these cards yet, but you wanna go over the next um the next uh the rundown?

SPEAKER_03

Do do do do do do here's the rundown! College basketball. Okay, you ready for this? Yep. Did Yukon's clutch win prove they're the favorite to win it all? Okay, you got the clock.

SPEAKER_01

I think um Let's go. I think that is the yes. I think they have the clutch win. Now, I don't think Duke, I think, is the number the best team. If they can beat Duke, they could probably go in a run. I know. If they can beat Duke, they can beat any team. I think this is over. I think they're already the favorite. I think if they can they're gonna if they beat Illinois and they play Michigan, Arizona, it's gonna be a tough game. But if they if they just have that mental edge, knowing that I already beat number one seed, I could beat another one. Then I think they'll I think they're unstoppable if that happens.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Well what are you doing? Don't do that.

SPEAKER_01

I'm stopping it. It's your turn. Have it already.

SPEAKER_03

No, don't don't pause it. You're not supposed to pause it. Never be paused, dude. So yeah, no, I agree with you. Um Yukon looked like the better team um in that game. Yeah, you know, even though they were down 20 points, they came back and won. They've got all that momentum, and like it's not like a sweet six, you know, it's not like uh Cinder Cinderella story. They're a two seed coming in, and they're Yukon. They've won the tournament, you know, um a few times in my lifetime. So uh I think they are now the favorites. Well, I don't know, they're probably not the favorite over Arizona. I think Arizona's still the favorite.

SPEAKER_01

Or not still, but I think Michigan's the favorite actually.

SPEAKER_03

But um overall, you think Michigan is?

SPEAKER_01

I think so.

SPEAKER_03

So who I know so you picked Arizona, but if you were to if you were to re pick, if you were to re pick, who would you pick? Would you stick with Arizona or a different?

SPEAKER_01

I'll stick with Arizona.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. NFL.

SPEAKER_03

Since Duke lost, I'm gonna go with you, Ken.

SPEAKER_01

Or the Bills one move away becoming a Super Bowl favorite.

SPEAKER_03

You serve because I served one move away from being a Super Bowl favorite. They uh I don't know if I understand the question because they are a Super Bowl favorite. Well, the Super Bowl favorite, like the number one Super Bowl favorite? Number one, one move away, yeah. I think I think if they made a big move with Josh Allen, they can easily be into that move. Well, I mean, it could be if it was a lot like Max Crosby would would be at or Trey Hendrickson or um you know JSN. Um probably not running back. We don't really need an I don't think any running back would unless it was like CMC. Well no, you know what I mean? Like CMC. You can make a big move with this offense, make it more powerful, um, or defense, make it more powerful, uh then yeah, I think they could the odds makers in Vegas could um with with one big move could could be the Super Bowl favorite.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, um got a decent amount of time here. Now the one move the one move I would do, the Bills need a wide receiver. You could draft a wide receiver, but he might not be good immediately. If you're going to capitalize in Josh Allen's prime, you got traded for someone big. I'm talking Justin Jefferson big. Maybe even AD Brown. That could be possibly someone. Or AJ Brown, yeah, that's more realistic.

SPEAKER_03

If they got AJ Brown, because that is like, you know, Max Crosby's not really on the table.

SPEAKER_01

I wouldn't be imposed.

SPEAKER_03

But if they did get AJ Brown, I think that could that that could put them on path to being the Super Bowl favorites. I'm not guaranteeing that, but a move like that, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I wouldn't be opposed. Okay, I'm not gonna be like, no, but um, okay, uh, do you want to do NBA one? Because I'm a more I'm the more NBA guy, so I'll we're gonna do it. Um Go ahead.

SPEAKER_03

If you if I don't really know the league, I've I've watched Knicks games. I know the Knicks know a little bit about the league that I've been following for the past three years, but I I'm not I'm not immersed in it like I am NHL and NFL.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. So right now Having said that, you know, I you know, I know a little bit of timer yet.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, start it.

SPEAKER_01

Biggest titles throughout right now. I think this one has gotta be it's not I don't think even though the next favorite team, I think it's gotta be a Western Conference team. I don't think Thunder are going back to back. I don't think the Lakers got it. I don't think the Nugget, Timberwolves. I think it's the Spurs. Okay, if they can if they can cap they have a great team. They have young star players, they have Web and Yama. He's really good. He's really gonna clutch moments, they're really clutch team. And the stats say it. They were on a nine-game win streak.

SPEAKER_02

Well.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, so they how many games do they have left?

SPEAKER_01

Um they play I don't know, but I I think this is a no-brainer. I think Spurs are gonna win.

SPEAKER_03

Their season's winding down. Where are the Knicks ranked in the league?

SPEAKER_01

Justin's conference, but they are forty-eight and twenty-eight. So they'd be you just missed it. They're on the east. They'd be in fifth, they'd be in fifth place in the entire league. Where are they in the east? They'd be in eighth place in the entire league. But they're third in the or third in the east?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Behind the Celtics and the Pistons.

SPEAKER_01

Correct.

SPEAKER_03

Well, I it that doesn't really matter. It really matters where you are in the East or the West, you know.

SPEAKER_01

So who do you got one?

SPEAKER_03

What's that?

SPEAKER_01

Who'd you got one?

SPEAKER_03

Title favorite The New York Knicks, baby. Yeah, that's that's uh that's our team, so that's who I'm rooting for. Um other than that, you know, throughout can you turn that off, please? I'll turn it off when the playoffs that I watch intensely, I learn about other teams. I learned about the NFL while watching the playoffs. I learn or yeah, NBA. I learn about the um the Indiana Pacers and the Boston Celtics, the Philadelphia 76ers. These are all rounds that the Knicks have played, uh opponents that they've played in playoff rounds uh throughout the past three years. So that that part's fun. It's really cool. And it's you know, it's playoffs, so it's it's intense. You know, every point is like matters even more because it's the playoffs. So yeah, I'm looking forward to that. Coming up as well.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Um can I say you want to do the M O B one?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, sure. Let's run it down. We got two more left in this segment. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Running up to about 44 minutes.

SPEAKER_03

Ready? Yep. You gotta make sure you turn that clock off when it buzzers. All right.

SPEAKER_01

I'll let you do a couple times. Are you gonna ask the question or am I early season results meaningful or too small of a sample size?

SPEAKER_03

Come on, say it with a little more energy.

SPEAKER_01

Are the early season results meaningful or too small of a sample size?

SPEAKER_03

They are they're too small of a sample size. You got 162 games.

SPEAKER_01

You got trades.

SPEAKER_03

You can go, you can probably lose like 20 games in a row and still like win your division, make the playoffs.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So many games. It's ridiculous. So it's almost like the beginning of the season. It's fun because it's like, hey, baseball's back, and um we're here in Buffalo freezing our butts off, and basements are flooding. But you you put the game on, it's like, oh man, look at California. Look at that, looks like a nice sunny day. Uh or down in Florida, or I mean, there's they don't always play in warm weather. Um New York, Yankees. They have but they haven't played at home yet. I don't know how long. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

They got like a couple months, but um no, like for the first home game.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, a couple months.

SPEAKER_01

Like a month, maybe.

SPEAKER_03

No. Okay. Look it up. Look it up.

SPEAKER_01

I think the early thing, I think they're I think they're too small.

SPEAKER_03

Can you look up when the first home game?

SPEAKER_01

Uh I'm gonna do my take here. But I think I think it's too small with sample size. You need to get they should limit it down like at least to like a hundred. They gotta make it more meaningful games. Yeah. The game has more meaning in it.

SPEAKER_03

You're proposing I want more meaning in the proposing more fun games. You're proposing a shorter season. Hmm. So you want you're basically saying you want the owners to make less money, is that what you're saying?

SPEAKER_01

Wednesday, March 25th. Oh, so it already happened.

SPEAKER_03

They already played a home game?

SPEAKER_01

Yankees home opener. Oh, it was in it was in San Francisco.

SPEAKER_03

Well, when's their home opener? Well, um just look at the schedule.

SPEAKER_01

April 3rd. So that would be in two days.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

In the Bronx. First pitch will be thrown by Jack Hughes.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, cool.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, um, last one. Do you want to do this one?

SPEAKER_03

We were there once, remember that?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

It was awesome.

SPEAKER_01

So do you wanna um Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Can the Sabres realistically make a late push? Wait, what? Can the Sabres realistically make a late push to clinch a playoff? That makes no sense.

SPEAKER_01

That means I I made it wrong. It's supposed to be division. Make a push to Jake to win the division.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. That makes more sense. Um, it's definitely realistic because they're leading the division right now. Um I got a different question for you.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Racco Goodas, the captain.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, we're talking about sabers here. Let's stay, let's stick to the notes. Let's stay here and let's just stick to the sabers?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Okay, all right. Last night, um, someone made a hit on Josh Norris. Okay, he goes into the boards. Some say it was a legal hit, some say it wasn't. You know, either way. And then his teammate, Sam Kerr, comes in to um, you know, show his support and ends up getting injured. Here's the question. If if a hit is legal, uh uh, you know, a totally legal hit, should a teammate always stand up for his teammate when they, you know, get knocked down?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. That's his normal.

SPEAKER_03

Even a legal hit?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. That's you can that's basically whenever someone gets pushed over, you're gonna want to come back and you know fight back for them. It's always it's just it's just something everyone always does. It doesn't even matter what someone says.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's you're right about the Stanley Cup playoff.

SPEAKER_01

Doesn't matter. But I will I remember eliminated a team.

SPEAKER_03

I used to watch hockey when I was younger, and it wasn't always like that. What would happen? What would happen? And that a lot of sometimes there would be like a scuffle, but a lot of times it'll be a big hit, and then there'd be like they'd be like, Yeah, I got that guy's number. And later on the game, that guy would get hit. That was cool. That was cool to see to see them try to you know get back at each other tit for tat. Now it's just like you know, it's immediate and it's a little it's a little staged. It's like, come on, guys, we had a good flow there, keep playing hockey. But yeah, all right, I get it.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, now we're going to the Valor, Texas Open Field. Now you I went first last time. Talking about golf. So I went first last time. Now if you're trying to go first.

SPEAKER_03

Valero.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

The Valero Texas Open. Um in Jordan, or I mean uh Scotty Scheffler, he was I don't think he had his child yet. I think that's I thought she was going into labor last week. Um haven't heard anything yet? But also uh Matt Fitzpatrick, our boy Matt Fitzpatrick, I got his golf ball right here.

SPEAKER_01

When the player is taken, they are off the board. They're done. Can't take them.

SPEAKER_03

What do you mean?

SPEAKER_01

Once they're once someone picks them for when you're talking five Myth Cut, they're off. You can't use them for anything.

SPEAKER_03

All right. Um okay, so I start for it this time, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yep, that's what I said.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, um, oh yeah, Matt Fitzpatrick, he just announced that um he is expecting a baby. So congratulations, Matt Fitzpatrick. Yeah, we're big fans of you over here. Okay. Um, like I said, I got his golf ball right here that he gave me.

SPEAKER_01

Our golf ball. It's ours. It's on your side, but I handed it to you. Yeah. So why do you think it's yours?

SPEAKER_03

It's yours, I said.

SPEAKER_01

No, he said it's yours. He said my golf ball.

SPEAKER_03

Oh. You know what I mean. All right, let me just all right. So um winner, top 25, and miss cut. Okay, or do you want to go? I'll go winner, and then you go winner, and then I do top 25. All three?

SPEAKER_01

Well, actually, if we want to do that, we can do it, we can try it out. Winner, winner, top 25.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, so Tommy Fleetwood is the the favorite, 13 to 1. I do not think Tommy Fleetwood is going to win the Valero Texas open field. So if you want if you want to pick him, Mason, have at it. Um, okay, then you got one, two, three, four, five, six down is Jordan Speith, 22 to 1. Does anyone really realistically think that Jordan Speith is gonna win this tournament?

SPEAKER_01

Me. No.

SPEAKER_03

I don't think so. Well, you're only all the guys here, but your guy. He has it. I I can't believe he's that high. I can't believe it. Um Ricky Fowler, he's been playing good. Uh he's he's a little bit further down. He he's been playing all right this year. Um, Keith Mitchell's up there, Mav McNeely. Um Sepp Straca. Sepp Straka. You know what? You want to take him? I'm taking Seppstraka at 27 to 1.

SPEAKER_01

I'll get some, I'll put some noises on today. Like some generic noises.

SPEAKER_03

I'm producing the next episode, though. Oh, you're right. It's gonna be wild.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I'll co-produce, you'll be a producer.

SPEAKER_03

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so um, I'm on the board now, and I want a guy who has been there, he's been there, he's ready, he's determined, and he has experience. That takes off Oberg and number one.

SPEAKER_03

Ludwig Auberg!

SPEAKER_01

I'm not gonna take him.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, you're not taking him? No. Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna take someone that I think really has it them. I'm gonna take Tommy Fleetwood.

SPEAKER_03

He left he left it open for me, so Tommy Mason, the guy who's predicted to win number one overall. No, he's taking Tommy. He's taking Tommy Fleetwood. It's not it's not a bad pick, obviously. It's not a bad pick at all. Okay. Um, top 25. So this isn't no, it's definitely not a signature event.

SPEAKER_01

Um I feel like if I pick like the top guys, we gotta at least maybe next time I'll pull a little buffer though.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, like if I if if I pick a someone who's got shorter odds and win, that should be worth something more than someone who's something. Yeah, yeah, we'll figure it out we'll fit we'll we'll iron that all out. So top 25. Um I'm gonna go with uh I'm gonna go with um Ricky Fowler, top 25.

SPEAKER_01

That's a good picker there. So yeah. Okay, so he's off the board. I'm I'm not gonna take someone who is just good. I'm not gonna take Oberg. You know, just because he's up there. I'm actually gonna take a guy who I think has a chance to go all the way up to top 25. Jordan? Not Jordan space. Did I get you?

SPEAKER_03

I thought that's what you were gonna say, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I'm going, um Let me just think you're I think I'm gonna go Robert McIntyre.

SPEAKER_03

Robert McIntyre, alright, nice. Good one. Robert Mack. Alright, and who's going to miss the cut? Then we say we can't go, we can't go to the very bottom.

SPEAKER_01

Well, you can.

SPEAKER_03

No, last time we didn't. Let's say, okay, it's gotta be at least on the first page. Um so you know what it should be, it should be someone in like the top ten that you think will miss the cut. Well, we'll do that next week because we'll see. A favorite that misses the cut. That happens all the time. Like, like I picked Kepka, he was the fourth or fifth favorite, and he missed the cut. Um so if I'm gonna pick someone in the top, I'm gonna go with Jordan Speith. In the top, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Speaker. Okay, I already got my guy ready.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I'm going to be ranked high. Um he's ranked a little high. I'm going Denny McCarthy.

SPEAKER_03

Denny McCarthy, he's a great putter. Yeah, but where's Denny?

SPEAKER_01

He's at 4,000 40 to 1. Okay, I think that'll wrap it up.

SPEAKER_03

Yep, me too. Alright, tune in next week. And um tune in next week. We're gonna have a slash new format, maybe a guest speaker. Um, talking more draft. Sabres. We'll have some more sabers run down and talk to. Yeah. Alright, see you next week.
